I rarely give much thought about the motivation driving me to place one foot in front of the other. It’s taken for granted as something I’m simply expected to do. I doubt that it’s necessary to evaluate every single step, but I want to believe in something bigger than expectation or “just because”.
After missing last Sunday’s church service, it was very important for me to make that time in my life this week. I wanted that celebration. Not because I’d had a bad week or that I sought reassurance of comfort. But much like that one step in front of the other thing, I just needed it.
The joy of the morning and the words wrapped themselves around me. My soul was touched and my eyes unexpectedly filled with tears as lyrics of “Revelation Song” were exclaimed from my lips:
With all creation I sing:
Praise to the King of Kings.
You are my everything,
And I will adore You.
Just as I had done yesterday, I follow the path in front of me today, trusting it will take me to wherever it is I’m going. Placing another foot in front of my last, I continue to believe in greater things, if for no other reason than just because I expect it.
